The Handwriting Tag

Hello my lovelies!

I saw this tag over on Sophiia's blog, Beauty by Sophiia, a while ago and bookmarked it instantly.  Things were so hectic with school and graduation that I haven't had time to focus on writing posts, but I have been on the prowl for ideas!  So, now that graduation is over, I broke out the school notebook one last time and wrote this out.

Here are the questions -

1. What is your name? And your blog?
2. What’s your blog URL?
3.Write: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
4. Favorite quote.
5. Favorite song.
6. Favorite band/singer.
7. Say anything you want.

I hope everyone can read my writing!

So, what do you guys think?  Does my handwriting look readable?  I always feel like my handwriting isn't as neat as it should be.  If I hadn't been using lined paper, you would have seen a little slant going on as well, but trust me, if you had given me a pencil this would look ten times better!

I hope you all enjoy this post and maybe some of you will try it out yourselves!  Leave a comment if you use the tag and let me know how it goes!
Until next time,

Expectations Vs. Reality: Post Grad

Hello my lovelies!

Recently I've been thinking a lot about how things aren't what I thought/want them to be after graduation. Each one of us who will be or who has graduated from college had a vision of what life would be like after graduation.  We would have jobs, be living in our own places, traveling, doing everything that we never were able to do as an undergrad.  I had these same thoughts too up until graduation came and went.  Here are a few of the things that I had expected to be different:

Have a job
I had expected to have a full-time job after graduation.  I had sent out so many résumés that I was sure that I would be hired, but unfortunately I am stuck in Wolfeboro working my part-time job at the shoe store still.  At least it’s something though, and my co-workers are great!

Have my own place
I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to live at home for long once I graduated.  I am tired of living by my parent’s rules and hearing them complain that I don’t do everything that they want me to do.  Isn’t trying to find a job and save money enough?

Leave Wolfeboro
I am really ready to leave this town.  I have lived here since I was three and I’m just tired of it.  It’s a tourist town, so during the winter months everything is shut down and in the summer it is super crowded with visitors buying overpriced t-shirts.  There’s really nothing here for young people.  Whenever I go out with friends we end up at least an hour away and I’m just sick of driving.  Plus, paying $60.00 to fill up my car isn’t much fun either.

Paying my own bills
I know this is an odd one, but I really want to be able to pay my own bills!  To me, this would show that I am doing something right because I would have the money to be able to afford my way of living.

Being able to travel
I have always loved traveling and the number one place on my bucket list is England.  I was hoping that there might be a trip waiting for me after graduation, but it was just too expensive.  However, I did take a weekend getaway to NYC with a friend for Digifest!  It was so much fun!  I hope that I get more chances to travel and get out of town with friends.  Whenever I mention a place I want to go, my mum looks at prices for four people, turning it into a family vacation.  She hasn’t realized that I don’t want to be stuck with my family anymore and I don’t have the heart to tell her.

I’m sure there are probably more things that were different than what I expected, but these are the ones that stick out to me the most right now.  Do any of you share these expectations with me?  Do you have different ones?  Comment down below!

Midweek Catch-Up

Hello my lovelies!

I am back again and I thought for today we could just have a little chat.  There have been so many things going on that have had me bouncing from one thing to another!  There's been graduations, birthdays, etc. and then on top of that I have driven all over the state in the past couple of days.  So, without further adieu, let's get started.

Graduation:               This was a whirlwind of a day.  I was so worried about tripping up the steps to the stage, or forgetting to move my tassle from right to left that I was just a bundle of nerves.  Thankfully I didn't trip and neither did anyone else in my venue.  Since the sky was looking threatening, the school officials made the call to move graduation indoors and this forced our graduating class to be split into four different areas of campus.  I missed seeing some great friends graduate, but fortunately my brother and I were in the same area so my family didn't have to choose between either of us!

Packing:                    On the same day as graduation I had to move out of my dorm room which required packing and cleaning.  I had done some of my packing during the week, but I realize now that it wasn't enough because I was still in Plymouth a couple hours after the graduation ceremony.  I honestly don't know how I was able to drive two hours home after being up early and busy all day, but I made it safe and sound!

Unpacking:                In past years I have always unpacked my school things right after getting home, or the next day, but this year has been a little different.  Here it is, three days later, and I have yet to unpack.  My goal for this week is to move things little by little so that I have the backseat and trunk of my car back by the weekend.  Wish me luck!

Happy Birthday Dad: Woo, 58 and proud!  Yesterday was my dad's birthday and we took him out to dinner to Magaritas.  For those who aren't familiar with this restaurant, it's a chain of Mexican restaurants in the US.  I ate so many tortilla chips that I'm surprised that I didn't turn into one!  Their chips and salsa are the best that I have ever had and I definitely recommend that you try the restaurant if you have never been!  Also, if you enjoy magaritas, I've been told that they make some damn good ones as well.  Not only do they have the traditional magarita, but they also have several others, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Blog Updates:            For those of you that are returning readers, you may notice that things look a little different around here!  Since getting home from school I have been working on an actual header for this blog and once I figured that out, I decided that the other elements of the blog didn't fit, so I did a little spring cleaning.  I gave this place a fresh color scheme and played with fonts and alignments a little bit.  It took up a lot of hours over the past couple of days, but it definitely was worth it!

So, now that you are all caught up with what is going on with me, what has been going on with you guys?  Have anything fun planned for the coming months?  Also, congratulations to all of those recent graduates out there!
Until next time,

Senior Year: Beginning to End

Hello my lovelies!

I've missed you all so much in my absence, but now I'm back and ready to get some posts up!

While I was away I was busy completing my senior year at Plymouth State University.  Below is just a peak at what I had going on in my last semester of schooling ever!
There were so many pictures that I wanted to include, but I narrowed it down to just four.  The first image in the top left corner is from Spring Fling.  For those that don't know, Spring Fling is the last major event on campus other then graduation and for the event we have a concert.  This year we had Smash Mouth and Hit the Lights perform and they were both awesome!

The next picture in the top row is of the student senate which I was the secretary of!  This was for our formal dinner with the president of the university (10 points to Gryffindor if you can find me!).

Now, the first picture in the bottom row is from the senior semi-formal.  The theme was black and gold, so I put on my little black dress and accessorized with gold jewelry.  I had such a blast and I'm glad I got to spend the night in good company!

And finally, the last photo is from graduation which took place just yesterday!  I was lucky enough to go to the same school as my older brother and share a graduation day, so there are the two of us after receiving our diplomas!

All in all the last four years have been a blast, but this past year will definitely be the most memorable!

Spring Break Goodies--Part 2

(As always, these types of posts are not intended to be braggy.  I am curious about what others buy and I know that a bunch of you are curious little buggers too!  So without further ado, on with the goodies!)
Hello my lovelies!

I am back at school and classes have started up again which means Spring Break 2014 is officially over.  That means it's time for the second half of my Spring Break Goodies (check out the first part here).  I hit up a bunch of different stores and I hadn't realized until it was picture time that there seems to be a running color scheme going on here...Anyways, let's get started with this haul!

While at the Maine Mall in Portland I stopped by Lush and made my first purchase ever.  I bought a Popcorn Lip Scrub and it definitely lives up to the hype that everyone has given it!  It comes in a little glass jar and it is essentially little sugar granuals that you pick up on your finger and rub on your lips.  This process gently exfoliates your lips and because the ingredients are all natural you can eat off the excess!  I also purchased a Whip Stick Lip Balm in the scent Whipped Chocolate/Orange.  It smells exactly like a chocolate orange and if I could I would eat it directly out of the tin!  The last thing I bought at Lush was a Butterball Bath Bomb.  I'm just going to say that this bath bomb is amazing!  After putting it in the water and watching it fizz, I soaked for a while and when I got out my skin was softer than I can ever remember.  This is something that I will definitely repurchase!

The next couple of places I went were Sephora and Ulta.  I showed some restraint and only bought one item from each store.  At Sephora I bought a small package that contained the Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil and the Tarte Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment.  So far I have enjoyed using both these products.  The oil has a pleasant smell and the eye cream has no detectable smell.  I have been using each for a week and haven't seen any noticeable changes in my skin, however I will keep using it to see what another week will do!

At Ulta I found another NYX Glam Lipstick Aqua Luxe in the shade Enchanting which I just had to have.  It is a gorgeous nude color with a slight silver reflection.  Just like the other two I purchased earlier in Spring Break, this one applies very smoothly.

I also stopped by Big Lots and Walmart where I found a Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in the shade Creamsicle, a Cover Girl lipstick in the shade Hot Passion, and three NYC nail polishes in the shades Tudor City Teal, Preppy Pink, and Lexington Lilac.

This break wasn't a very clothing heavy break for me.  I stopped in Forever 21 and picked up a new Spring/Summer pajama set that has a grey top and light pink shorts with grey letters all over them.

I was also able to find a pair of navy blue flats at Payless Shoes!  I have been on the hunt for navy blue flats and I had seen a couple of pairs that I liked, but my size wasn't available.  So when I saw these I snapped them up!  I can't wait for the snow and ice to melt so that I can wear them without the fear of ruining them!

A couple weeks ago I had seen a post on the blog Everyday is a Holiday that showed off a bunch of great finds at Target, so during break I got my butt to Target and picked up the aqua notecards that Jenny had mentioned.  I also picked up a set in coral and a set of thank you cards.  With graduation coming I want to thank people for any gifts (if any) that I receive.  I also purchased some aqua and coral pens/pencils as well as a white and silver chevron pencil cup for my desk!  Also for my desk are the new aqua sticky notes, aqua notepad, and the little sign that says "blah." in silver cursive.  One of the first things I did when I got back to school was setup/reorganize my desktop and now it has a nice, fresh, color scheme!

The last store that I went to was Michael's I had originally gone in to look for some storage ideas, but then I saw these cute circular scrapbook embelishments that were on clearance.  I kept coming back to them and thinking about what I could use them for when I finally thought of making magnets out of them.  I bought a package of adhesive magnets and stuck them onto the back of each embellishment and voilà, instant magnets!  They look so cute dotting the front of my refrigerator in my dorm room!

Well, that's it for the Spring Break Goodies and I think that this will be the last haul for a while.  I have a few other posts in the works, so stay tuned for those!

The Calendar Says Spring, But My Yard Says Winter.

Hello lovelies!

I imagine that many of you have the winter time blues like I do.  Here it is, a couple days into spring and I am still seeing mounds of snow with more on the way!  Please take pity on me Mother Nature and give me some warm weather *grovels on hands and knees*.

To help lift your spirits and to get into a spring time mood there are a few different things that I like to do:

1. Dig out the spring colors!
Last spring/summer I fell in love with the coral/mint combination and that small obsession is still going strong!  I have been looking forward to this time of year so that I would be able to wear these colors without getting some weird looks from friends.  Here I have two Maybelline Color Whispers in the colors Coral Ambition and Pinup Peach, Jergens Natural Glow, Julie G nail polish in the shade Gelato in Venice, Wet n' Wild nail polish in the shade Blazed.  Lastly I have a Maybelline Fit Me Blush in the shade Medium Coral.  Just looking at the colors in this picture puts me in a better mood!

2. Clean out and start new.
While home on break I spent a lot of time staring at my closet and cringing at how messy it was. So I took a few trash bags and started filling them until I had four bags for Goodwill and two bags of garbage.  It's crazy how much stuff I actually fit in there.  For the first time in years I can actually see the bottom!  When going through I found that I was very strict with myself and if I hadn't worn it in the past six months or so it went in the bag.  Someone else will be able to love it like I did once upon a time!

3. Get up beat.
There are always certain songs that just scream summer to me whenever I listen to them.  So in preparation for the warmer months I always enjoy making a playlist full of upbeat songs, or digging out an old one from summers past that bring back great memories!  For this spring my playlist consists of:

Move-Little Mix
Hell Yeah-Midnight Red
Talk Dirty-Jason Derulo
Goodness Gracious-Ellie Goulding
Can We Dance-The Vamps
Better Than Words-One Direction
Don't Worry Be Happy-Guy Sebastian
What About Us-The Saturdays
Dark Horse-Katy Perry
On Our Way-The Royal Concept
Neon Lights-Demi Lovato
Do It All Over Again-Elyar Fox
Take Me Home-Midnight Red
Trumpets-Jason Derulo
Braveheart-Neon Jungle

If you hadn't heard of any of these artists, check them out and give them some love!
What do you do to get in a spring time mood?  Do we do the same things?

Until next time,

Spring Break Goodies--Part 1

(As always, these types of posts are not intended to be braggy.  I am curious about what others buy and I know that a bunch of you are curious little buggers too!  So without further ado, on with the goodies!)
Hello my lovelies!

As of last Friday, I am on Spring Break!  Although it's only been a few days, I've been having an awesome time just relaxing and not having to worry about course work.  One of the highlights has been getting out and being able to go to stores that I don't have near school.  I went to Forever 21, Wetseal, Aerie, American Eagle, etc. but oddly enough I didn't find anything that I had to have in any of those stores.  The place that I had the most luck was JCPenney!  I was able to find FIVE skirts that are all nice, light, and summery which can be purchased here: Coral/Yellow Flowers (top right), Daisy (bottom left), Black (bottom right)

I was also able to find a Coral colored dress that has little cutouts all over.  I think that this will be the dress that I wear for graduation in May!  Unfortunately I was unable to find this on the JCPenney website.

I also stopped by Ulta and TJMaxx while I was out and picked up these three gems.  The two NYX products are from the GLAM Lipstick Aqua Luxe collection and they were on clearance at ULTA for $2.99 a piece because the colors have been discontinued.  The one on the left is in the color Razzle Dazzle and the one on the right is in the color Lotus.  I've only had them a couple of days, but they gave me a great first impression!  These slide onto the lips very fluidly and they feel very light when on.  There is a hint of glitter in these that makes the lips sparkle a bit, so they aren't quite matte, but they are great so far!

The Butter London nail polish in the center I found at TJMaxx for $6.99!  It was so much cheaper than other places that I have looked, so I knew I had to grab it!  Plus, this purchase allows me to cross yet another thing off my "Products I Want to Try in 2014" list :)  I picked this up in the color Thames which is a gorgeous blue/green color.  I can honestly say that the color you see in the bottle is the color that appears on the nail and I'm eager to find more of these!

I also stopped by Ocean State Job Lot and found these Milani lipglosses.  I got a
3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss in the shade In Vogue for $1.50, a lipgloss in the shade Red Delicious for $.75, two Haute Flash lipglosses in the shades Hot Flash and Golden Flash for $1.50 each, and a Glitzy Glamour Gloss in the shade 50 Center Stage for $1.50.  All of these are very pigmented and the red ones give off that perfect candy apple red smile when worn while the pink and brown ones are more subdued.  My only complaint is that the Red Delicious gloss (second one from the left) is very matte and looks like more of a lipstick when worn instead of a gloss.  Other than that, no harm done, it will still get used!

Stay tuned for part 2!
Until next time,
