July 2015 Beauty Buys

Hello again my loves!

I am back again!  Twice in one week!  Should I go for a third?  Anyways, today I wanted to share with you some of the beauty items that I purchased throughout the month of July!  Typically I would have done separate haul posts for each trip, however I didn't believe there were enough items to justify separate posts at the time.  So instead of giving you all a few short posts, I decided to save up all my beauty buys from this past month and show them to you all at once!

The first item that I bought during July was the Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara.  I had heard many good things about this mascara, but I was still skeptical.  I have never been a fan of plastic bristled mascara wands because they never seemed to work that well for me.  I have always had better luck with a wand that is an actual brush, but I took a chance on this mascara because I had a coupon  and I was willing to try it for $4.39.  Once I got around to finally trying it, I didn't find myself  being blown away by how well it worked.  Yes, it did separate my lashes, and yes, it did give my lashes a little extra oomf, but the other mascaras that I prefer do those things as well.  This is definitely a great mascara for those who are looking for a great budget mascara, but for me, I would rather pay more for something that I love instead of paying less for something that is just okay in my opinion.

During July I also took my first ever trip to Nordstrom Rack!  While there I hightailed it to the beauty section and picked up a couple different things.  The first thing that I laid my greedy little palms on was the Essie nail polish in the shade Resort Fling.  This was one of the featured items in my July Favorites and I was so happy to find a coral shade on discount because I only ever see them at full price!  This particular gem I nabbed for $6.97, so it wasn't a deep discount or anything, but it was just enough to push my hand into buying it.  I also picked up an Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in the shade Revolver which is a grey color with a dash of glitter mixed in.  My hand is still a little shakey when it comes to apply liquid eyeliner, but I find myself practicing more and more with this.  Slowly, but surely I am becoming more comfortable with it.

Another item that I picked up while visiting Nordstrom rack was a Stila Sun Bronzing Powder in the shade 01.  I have yet to find a bronzer that i am completely in love with, so whenever I can find a good deal on a bronzer, I tend to grab it and give it a go.  This particular bronzer cost $12.97 and I have my fingers crossed that I will love it!  It seems so hard for me to find a good bronzer because my skin is so light.  It always looks like there is a little too much orange tint in the ones I've tried, but this one looks more brown when I tried it on my hand, so I'm eager to see what it looks like!

The last piece that I picked up while at Nordstrom was a Too Faced Air Buffed BB Cream for $7.97.  I believe that this particular line by Too Faced has been discontinued and that is why it was at the Rack, but that didn't deter me in the slightest.  I got this in the shade Linen Glow which is a little darker than I normally go, but I think that if I apply it with a gentle hand it will be fine.

On another one of my adventures I ended up at Ulta, TJ Maxx, and Target.  I didn't have anything in mind to buy specifically when I went into either of these stores, but I did have a coupon to use at Ulta for a free deluxe size Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner in the color Beyond Brown.  As I mentioned in my July Favorites, I have fallen in love with this eyeliner.  It is simply one of the best liners I have ever tried!  I highly recommend it because it is so easy to apply and if you do make a mistake, just take a Q-tip to the smudge and wipe it away!  Everyone should have Q-tips or cotton swabs on their vanity because they are just so handy for smudged mascara, shadow, liner, or picking up extra color from around the lips.  I tend to have a little problem with lipstick bleeding into the surrounding area.  This happens most with darker hues like the ones that I picked up from Target.  I found two Maybelline Color Elixir Iridescents on clearance for $2.98 a piece.  The first one I picked up is in shade 520, Pearlescent Peach, and the second one is in the shade 530, Radient Ruby.  Since finding these two lip products, I have been reaching for them quite a bit.  Pearlescent Peach is perfect for the summer.  It has a very light color and adds a gloss to the lips while Radient Ruby is a color I can see myself wearing in the fall.  It is dark enough on my skin to give me the perfect dark red lip and it's about time that I found my color!  It seems like every red I try is either too bright, or two dark for my liking.  But now I have the perfect fall lip product and I couldn't be happier!

The last bits that I found at Target were two Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks.  One is in the shade 150, Picadilly Pink, and the other is in shade 450, Berry Rich.  Both shades will be perfect for the cooler weather and both are ultra creamy.  These will definitely keep my lips moisturized during the cooler months!  I can't wait until the weather turns cooler.  Don't get me wrong, I love the summer, but autumn is by far my favorite season.  I love being able to wear jackets, scarves, boots, sweaters, etc. but not have to bundle up with the hats, mittens, and such.

At TJ Maxx I found two Essie nail polishes in the shades Stones N Roses which is a pink shade and Recessionista which is a plum shade.  I thought these would pair well together for the fall, however the pink I could get away with for the summer as well!

The very last thing that I picked up was from an online order from one of Benefit Cosmetics sales.  I picked up the Laugh with me Lee Lee eau de toilette when it was marked down to $14.00 with free shipping.  I had been wanting this perfume for a few years, but I was never willing to pay the full $36.00 for it.  When it went on sale, I pounced and now I'm a happy clam who smells oh so fresh and summery!  It's an all around great scent and I don't know what I did without it.  It smells so good!

Well, there you have it.  I know I rambled at times, but I just wanted to get across my first impressions of the products!  My rambles aside, I would love to hear from you all about your recent beauty buys!  Did you find some of the same deals as me?  What did you think about your recent buys?

Until next time,

July Favorites 2015

Hello my loves!

I can't beleive how long it has been since I last wrote a post.  It's been ages, but I am finally back with another post.  Seeing as July flew by and it is officially August 1st, I decided it would be a good idea to start off with a July favorites!

1. Urban Decay Ammo Eyeshadow Palette: I've had this palette for a while, but it wasn't until recently that I started to fall in love with it!  As you can see, I have hit pan on Sin in the bottom right.  Now I am working on Chopper which is right above Sin.  I'm not one for wild colored eye shadow, so I'm afraid I won't touch the middle six colors.  I'm just a neutral kind of girl when it comes to makeup.

2. Essie Nail Polish//Resort Fling: I picked this up a couple weeks ago when I visited Nordstrom Rack for the first time.  I saw it sitting on the shelf and I was just drawn to it like a moth to light.  If you know me, you know that I love corals and mints, so the color was one point in its favor.  Then I saw the price and that it's an Essie polish and it had me hook, line, and sinker.  It's such a great summer color!

3. MAC False Lashes Extreme Black: I found this gem while shopping my stash.  I got this as a free sample with an order around Christmas time.  I was super excited when I first received this because I had never tried any Mac products before, but when I tried it, I was not impressed.  I think I had been blinded by my love of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara that I wasn't keeping an open mined.  Despite this, I kept it in my stash and I am glad I did!  This mascara has been my go to for a major part of July.  I just love how it makes my lashes look full and adds volume!

4. Benefit's Laugh with me Lee Lee eau de toilette: Oh god, this scent!  A while ago I had gotten a sample card of this fragrance and it was love at first sniff.  It smells fresh and it's light.  Honestly, it's perfect for every day of the year.  It's just one of those scents that once you smell it, you start to wake up and you get energy to start your day because it gives you the feeling that it's gonna be a great day.

5. Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer: In June, I switched back to this primer after having used the Urban Decay Shadow Primer Potion for a few months and it was one of the best decisions that I ever made.  I don't get creasing with this primer and when I get home after a full day of work, my shadow looks the same as when I put it on in the morning.  It's the best primer I have ever used and I think I will keep it around for a little bit.  It is definitely worth every penny.

6. Benefit's They're Real Push Up Gel Liner//Brown: I picked this up at Ulta one day because I had a coupon for a free deluxe size sample.  If I hadn't have had the coupon I probably wouldn't have tried it because in reviews for it, people claimed that it was hard to apply and messy.  After trying my free mini for myself, I can honestly say that I have no idea what these people are talking about.  This eyeliner with its slanted tip makes the application of the gel so easy!  All you have to do is line the applicator up with your lash line and drag it along.  It's no different than any other eyeliner to apply except that the slanted tip helps to guide your hand a bit.  I absolutely love it and intend to buy the full size version once the mini runs out.

7. Topshop Cream Blush//Flush: This is another item from my stash.  I ordered it a while ago and I just didn't like the application of it.  I was so used to a poweder blush that I think I was a little too heavy handed when using this, so it got sent to the bottom of the drawer.  I dug it out this past month to give it another go and it has been awesome!  I love that I don't have to load my brush with product and that a little goes a long way!

So, do we share any favorites?  What have you been loving in July?  Leave me some comments and we can bond over new found loves and old friends

January Favorites

Hello my loves!
As it is now February, it is time for a monthly favorites! This month I have tried a few new things and some of them I have loved so much.  I could have loaded this post with tons of products, but I limited it to my top five beauty products that I have been grabbing for a lot.  If you would like to hear about other favorites, just leave me a comment down below to let me know!

The first thing I have fallen in love with this month is the BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Buttercream lipgloss.  The color is amazing when worn and it is just the perfect subtle pink!  Other then the color, the biggest plus for me is that it isn't as sticky as other lipglosses I've tried.  There's nothing I hate more than a sticky lipgloss, so this one is perfect for me and of course, the color goes with any look! It's just so good!

Another lip product that I have been grabbing for a lot is this New York Color lipstick.  It is one of their Ultra Moist Lip Wear lipsticks in the color Violet Shine.  It applies very smoothly and the formula is very creamy.  With this lipstick I find that I don't have to wear a chapstick underneath because it does what the name says and moisturizes your lips perfectly.  Plus, it lasts.  I can put this lipstick on before going out for the night and it will still be visible when I get home.  It has quickly become one of my favorite lipsticks.

Sticking with makeup, this mascara is still my favorite and it has been well over six months since I started using this particular one.  The Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara has a nice big brush that makes it easy to apply.  The bristles help to space out lashes and I have never had a probelm with clumping when I've used this mascara.  It gives you length, volume, and curl without having to do anything special.  It is a great product and I have looked for dupes, but I have yet to find any that I like equally or better, so if you know of any, leave me a comment and I'll check them out!

Moving onto fragrance, Crush by American Eagle Outfitters is still my favorite.  I love the packaging! The shape and size of the bottle is easy to hold unlike some other perfumes that are out there and the light pink is a nice girly touch.  Scent wise, this perfume is nice and fresh.  Whenever I spritz myself with it I know that I will smell nice and I never have to worry about the scent being too over bearing because of how light it is.  This is definitely a scent that will carry into the warmer months!

Last and certainly not least is this nail polish.  It is by a brand that is new to me which is Bonita by Royal Essence and I have the color Penny For Your Thoughts.  As the name suggests, it is a coppery/glittery shade and it's just a little different from other polishes that I have.  I have found that the glittery formula applies thickly and when removing it, the color goes first, leaving you with glittery silver nails.  It definitely takes an effort to remove this polish, but because of the color I decided it was a favorite for this month.

That's it for my January favorites!  I honestly could have gone on for days about everything that I have been loving, but let's be truthful, who would have actually read the whole thing?  I guess this is goodbye until next time.  Remember to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Bloglovin'!

Liebster Award

Hello my loves!

Recently I was nominated for a Liebster Award!  The gorgeous Izzy of Daisy Chains in the Rain (pop over to her blog for some good reads!) is my nominator and I am so happy to be included in such a fun award!  For those of you who may not know, a Liebster Award is when a blogger nominates eleven other bloggers who have less than 200 blog followers and ask them a list of eleven random questions/facts about themselves.

The rules of the award:
1) Link the person who has nominated you
2) Answer the questions given by the nominator
3) Nominate 11 other blogs
4) Create 11 questions for the nominees to answer
5) Notify all nominees through social media/their blogs

Questions From Izzy:

1) What is your favourite pizza topping and why? My favorite pizza topping is mushrooms because not many people I know like mushrooms on their pizza.  This ensures that my pizza will never be stolen from me!
2) Who is your favourite Actor/Actress, and what is your favourite film that they’re in? Definitely Anna Kendrick in Pitch Perfect!  I just love that movie so much and I bet the second one will be just as good!
3) Name a product you love that cost under £5. Since I am American, I translated this into US dollars which would be about $8.00 and a product that I love that is under $8.00 is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer!  I have been using it for a couple of years now and nothing else I've tried compares to it!
4) When did you start blogging and what was your first post? I started blogging in December of 2013 and my first post was "And Break Begins!" Winter break from college had just started, so it seemed like a good time to try my hand at blogging.
5) What was your New Years resolution and have you kept it so far? This year I had a few New Years resolutions that I talked about in my post, "A New Year and the Return to Blogging".  Out of the five I set for myself, I have stuck with two and the others are too early to tell if they will stick or not.  The ones that I have kept so far are to read more and to blog more.
6) Name a Blog or Blog post that inspires you. I think the Blog that has inspired me the most is Sprinkle of Glitter.  I love how Louise does the #glittergetsfitter and the motivational posts that help to keep herself and her readers in a positive mood.  It's just really refreshing and nice to see when something pops up in my newsfeed from her whether it be a blog post, a video, or a simple tweet.
7) What’s your favourite high street store? My favorite high street store is T.K. Maxx (T.J. Maxx here in the states).  I love going in here and looking at the home wares and such.  I always am able to find a good deal whenever I walk in.
8) What’s your favourite shade of lipstick? This changes quite often, but currently my favorite shade of lipstick is a pinkish hue.  Specifically, my favorite lipstick at the moment is the New York Color Ultra Moist Lipstick in shade 319, Violet Shine.
9) What is your favourite thing about the place where you live? I think my favorite thing about living in New England would have to be the weather.  My mum used to tell me, "wait a minute and it will change", and she was right.  One day it will be so cold you don't want to go outside if you don't have to and then the next day it can feel like spring time.  It's crazy and hard to plan for, but I think I would miss it if/when I leave.
10) What’s your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is people who ask questions during movies! I hate sitting down to a movie (whether I have seen it or not) and having someone asking me questions.  If I have not seen the movie before, then why would I know the answer to your question, or if I have seen the movie before why are we watching it again? I can answer questions without sitting through it.
11) Describe a makeup look or fashion trend that you’ve never tried out but really want to! I really want to try winged eyeliner!  I have attempted it before, but I haven't been successful, so I would really like to try it and be successful because it looks amazing on everyone that I see wearing it!
Well, that took a little longer than I thought it would.  Some questions I had answers to right away and others required some thought.  It was a good mix!
My 11 Questions:
1) How did you pick your blog name?
2) What's your favorite makeup brush brand?
3) If you were to travel any place in the world, where would it be and why?
4) Where do you find inspiration?
5) What was your last beauty purchase?
6) Why is your best friend your best friend?
7) What is your favorite song at the moment?
8) What is your favorite makeup brand?
9) How would you describe yourself in five words or less?
10) Which do you like better: curls or straight hair?
11) What is your favorite TV show at the moment?

Bloggers I am nominating:

Makeup Collection: Decluttering and Cleaning Out

Hello my loves!

We are well into 2015 and as they say, it's out with the old and in with the new!  Recently I've noticed that I have acquired quite a few makeup products over the past year and I have decided that it is time for a good clean out and declutter.  In a perfect world I would like to do this a couple times a year, but we all know that things come up (work, school, pure laziness) and it just doesn't happen! So, your collections may end up looking a little like mine...

When this happens, there is only one way I know how to figure out what to part with and that is to divide and conquer.  Starting with everything in one big pile, I like to divide everything out into categories (eyeshadow, blush, eyeliner, etc.) and then I can see what I tend to buy the most of.  This will be helpful for in the future when going to purchase a piece of makeup.  For me, my problem areas tend to be eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, and nail polish.

After dividing and identifying I will go through and pull out my everyday makeup and set that aside.  Chances are, if you use something everyday, it's a keeper! Next I go through each category and look at the shades.  Do I have any duplicates? Do I still like the shade? Has it expired? When was the last time I used it? These are all questions that need to be answered honestly if you want to make any progress when cleaning out your makeup collection.  I know it can be hard to part with some items, but in the end it will be worth it.  Just imagine all the empty space waiting to be filled with new 2015 favorites!

Something to keep in mind when trying to decide whether to keep or toss a piece of makeup is the lifespan of the product.  Everyone says something different when it comes to the life of makeup, but I like to stick with these time frames.

          Mascara: 1 year
          Eyeliner: 18 months
          Liquid Eyeliner: 6 months
          Eyeshadow: 18 months
          Blush/Bronzer: 18 months
          Lipstick/Lip Gloss: 18 months
          Lipliner: 1 year
          Foundation/Concealer: 1 year
          Nail Polish: 1 year

If you are still unsure about whether a product is still good, check the consistency of it.  If it's separated or clumpy, chances are it belongs in the trash.  Also, if it smells a little funky you may want to toss it to be on the safe side.

Once you have pulled out your must haves, tossed the wannabes, and held onto everything you can't live without, your collection should be looking a little (a lot) smaller, leaving you tons of room for all future favorites!

Ta-da! That wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be.  I'm so glad I had the opportunity to do this post because there was definitely a lot of clutter in my "vanity" area. I hope you find this post helpful and if you have any other tips/tricks, leave a comment!  I would love to hear from you!

2015 Beauty Wishlist

Hello my loves!

How insane is it that we are already in the middle of January? Wasn't Christmas just yesterday? Time is definitely flying and this month we have been seeing lots of new products for 2015 as well as a lot of old favorites!  So, since I have seen so many things that I want already, I thought that it was time for a wishlist!  I really thought that I would have trouble narrowing down my top choices, however it was surprisingly easy!  I was able to get my list down to the top 8 with no trouble whatsoever and when looking at everything all together I can see that there's a little bit of a pattern with all the rose gold/gold tones.  If this isn't a hint of my favorite hues then I don't know how else to show it.  Anyways, shall we get started? I think we shall!

1. BH Cosmetics 15 Piece Rose Gold Brush Set: I received a set of BH Cosmetic brushes in Decemeber as a birthday present from my best friend and since then I have found myself reaching for them more than my Real Techniques brushes.  I love how soft they are and that they came with a nice hard cylindar case.  Now I have my eye on these babies!  I love the rose gold and I think that these will be a great alternative to the Zoeva brushes that I have been lusting over.  I love the clutch case and the price can't be beat!

2. Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette: For the last year I have had my eyes on this little palette.  Whenever I go into a store that has it on display I always have to run my fingers over the pans and pickup a little bit of color to see how gorgeous the shades are.  It's just so pretty and the packaging is sleek!  It's the perfect size for an on-the-go makeup bag, but for some reason I haven't purchased it yet.  I think this year will be the year though!

3. Makeup Revolution Naked Chocolate Palette: There has been a lot of hype surrounding this budget makeup palette and from the swatches I have seen online, the hype is deserved.  This palette looks so gorgeous and I am eager to get my hands on it, but unfortunately I can't find it in stores in the US.  This will have to be an item that I wait for because I would really like to swatch it for myself before purchasing.

4. Too Faced Endless Summer Bronzer: I saw this in Sephora the other day and swatched it for the first time.  Honestly it was love at first sight when I saw the color on my fingers!  It is just the most beautiful shade of bronzer that I have ever seen and it has a little bit of shimmer to it as well which set it apart from other bronzers I have tried.  I can't wait to buy this when it gets closer to the summer months!

5. Lorac Unzipped Palette: I have never swatched this palette, but from the looks of it, it is one that I am going to love! Just like a lot of items on this list, it has the gold colors which I have been reaching for a lot over the past few months.  I know that the company just released the Unzipped Gold Shimmer & Matte palette, so it may be a toss up for me when I actually go to make a purchase.  Both palettes are equally beautiful.

6. Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection: Ever since receiving the email that these were available in Ulta, I have been lusting over them.  I have several of the original brushes and I have loved them dearly, so I have no doubt that these brushes will be a great addition to my ever growing brush collection once I get my hands on them!  Lately whenever I pop into the shop they have been sold out, so fingers crossed that the newness will wear off and I will be able to nab some soon!

7. Zoella Beauty Fizz Bar: I first saw these bars when Zoe showed them to viewers on her youtube channel and since then I have been interested in trying them.  I love using Lush bathbombs and bath fizzes, so I would like to think that I would like these as well.  I just wish that these were available in store someplace so that I wouldn't have to order it!  I am always more likely to buy something if I can find it in store and actually pick it up and look at it. Plus, then I can use it right away too!

8. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer: This concealer and the foundation has been talked about so much by youtubers that I have been intereted in trying it for over a year! From what I have seen of it, it provides great coverage and it is affordable! However I can't find it in the US at any stores near me.  I think this might not be available in the United States, or it may be marketed under a different name?  If you know the answer to this, let me know!

I am honestly surprised at how small my wishlist is and that the items aren't all insanely expensive!  If only it would stay limited to these items!  Comment down below if you have tried any of these products and tell me what's on your wishlist for 2015!  Maybe we want some of the same things!

My Skincare Routine

Hello my loves!

Since the very beginning of the new year I have been seeing quite a few skincare routines posted up by several different bloggers, so I decided it was time for me to add my two cents into the plethora of posts related to this topic.

For me when it comes to skincare I have to be extremely careful when choosing products because my skin is very picky.  I have tried dozens of products that are supposed to be non drying and great for sensitive skin, but none of them have worked.  Up until the last six months or so I had been just washing my face with soap and water because I was tired of spending money on a product, trying it a few times, and then tossing it when my skin was completely dried out.  I was so annoyed with all the skincare companies because nothing seemed to work for me, but then I found my holy grail skincare company: Formula 10.0.6.

I stumbled upon this brand while browsing the shelves in Ulta.  At the time they were having a sale, so I picked up one of their products to try and as you can see I went back for more!  I just love the brand so much and their products are relatively inexpensive when it comes to skincare.  The way I use these products is: cleanser, mask, toner, moisturiser.  This process seems to keep my skin happy which makes me happy!  I love knowing that my skin is soft and not having to worry about my cheeks peeling in the winter.  Peeling skin in the summer is one thing, but in the winter it just seems to make me feel ten times worse about my skin.  In the summer you know you aren't the only one who got a little too much sun, but in the winter I feel that my skin stands out more because not everyone is dealing with dry, sensitive skin.  So, if you are in the same boat as me (skin wise) I would suggest looking into some of these products to try!

          Formula 10.0.6

-Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser: After washing my face, I like to start my day off with this cleanser.  It comes out of the tube as a liquid and then it lathers when you rub your hands together.  It has a nice fruity scent because of the passionfruit that is found in it and not only does it smell nice, but it works!  It helps my skin to look clean, clear, and healthy everyday!

-Pores Be Pure Skin Clarifying Mud Mask: Like the cleanser, this mask also smells fruity because it contains strawberry, yarrow, and rosemary.  It is recommended that this be used a few times a week, however I use it once a week and I always find my skin looking a little bit better than it did before I applied it.  I usually put this on right after the cleanser and then I let it sit for 10-15 minutes while I work on other parts of my nightly routine.  Then I wash it off with warm water and pat dry my skin.  I just love how much cleaner it makes my skin look after using it!

-So Totally Clean Sensitive Formula: After the cleanser and somenights, after the mask, I use this toner which has cucumber to cool and cleanse and sea kelp to detoxify, clear oil and heal impurities.  I love using this at night, but I love it even more in the morning!  The cooling that the cucumber provides helps to wake me up and it's just a nice and refreshing way to start the day.

          Rite Aid

-Moisturizing Lotion: This is the last product that I use in the morning and at night for my skin.  The formula is very gentle and it does not cause my skin to dry out at all!  Scent wise, it has a slight smell, however it is very light and I believe it is the oatmeal that gives it the scent, so if you don't like oatmeal, this lotion may not be the one for you.

Well, there is my morning and night skincare routine!  I highly recommend the 10.0.6 brand to anyone who has trouble with dry, sensitive skin.  I have had a positive experience with this company and I hope that if you choose to try them out that you are as successful as I have been!  Leave a comment below telling me about your skincare routine.  Have any of you tried any of these products?  Have they worked for you?  Let me know!

Ta-ta for now,
